Combine all of this with a perfectly setup guitar from the Haywire Custom Shop!
- Consistent feel: The guitar feels balanced and plays consistently everywhere on the neck. The action is set to your personal preference—lower for faster playing or slightly higher to prevent fret buzz with a heavier picking attack.
- Fret perfection: The frets feel smooth and silky, with no rough edges. Bending a note feels like “glass-like” and comfortable, and there are no dead spots or buzzing across the fretboard.
- Perfect intonation: The guitar is perfectly in tune with itself. When you play a note at the 12th fret, it is the exact same pitch as the open string’s 12th-fret harmonic. This means chords and notes sound in tune no matter where you play them on the neck.
- Clear, resonant tone: Every note rings out cleanly and sustains properly, contributing to a full, rich tone. A good setup addresses issues like string buzz and muted notes, which can prevent a guitar from sounding its best.
- Balanced electronics: For an electric guitar, the pickup height is adjusted so that each string produces an even volume and a balanced tone.
- No tuning issues: A well-cut and lubricated nut and saddles ensure strings don’t bind, leading to excellent tuning stability. For tremolo systems, this means it returns to pitch correctly after use.
- Balanced components: All the hardware is secure and works smoothly, from the tuning machines to the bridge. The neck is properly adjusted to counteract string tension, preventing warping.
- It feels right: A perfectly set up guitar just feels “great” in your hands and responds intuitively to your playing. It makes you want to keep playing, rather than putting the instrument down out of frustration.
