Electric/Acoustic Guitar Setup Myrtle Beach

What is involved in an electric/acoustic guitar setup?

An acoustic guitar setup is a series of adjustments to improve its playability, sound, feel, general health and ease of play.

What’s involved in an acoustic guitar setup?

  • Tuning: Tuning the guitar to the correct pitch and checking the tuning
  • String height: Adjusting action height of the strings
  • Truss rod: Adjusting the truss rod means adjusting the neck to get it set correctly for ease of play
  • Nut: Lubricating the nut so the strings slide in their grooves
  • Intonation: Shortening or lengthening the scale length of each string for perfect pitch
  • Pickup height: Correcting or adjusting the height of the pickups for best sound quality
  • Bridge: Setting the height of the bridge for best action and ease of play

Why do I need an acoustic guitar setup?

  • New guitars often need a setup because they’re mass-produced and not ready for playing.
  • Guitars change over time and need a setup to return to better playing condition
  • Regular setups can help you find potential issues early, saving you from expensive repairs later
