”Fine-tuning” your guitar playing
First and foremost, a setup is of utmost importance in fine-tuning your guitar. Some players prefer to have super low action or strings close to the fret board while other players like higher string action. It’s important to point out, the higher the strings the less in-tune your guitar will be.
Guitar weight
A guitar needs to be light and well-balanced. A heavy guitar can cause pain, discomfort and distraction. Lighter guitars may have more resonance and sustain.

Neck shape
The shape of your guitar neck should provide a comfortable familiar feel while playing. Most players will benefit from a specific shaped neck and as a result, play better.
Nut slots
The string slots in your nut need to be cut as low as possible for best tuning and comfort.
Neck Angle
The angle of a guitar neck, specifically a bolt-on needs to be perfect, not close. For low action with no string and fret buzz it’s a must. Experienced Luthiers know this and how to accomplish fine-tuning your guitar.
Are expensive guitars easier to play?
Definitely not! Expensive guitars don’t help you play better. They do nothing for your finger speed, picking accuracy, comfort, musical performance, sound or ability. It just makes high-end guitar companies flush with cash at your expense. A difficult to play guitar comes in many price levels. Don’t be fooled. It will simply slow your progress. A beginning or intermediate player will become frustrated with high action on a guitar. Make playing your guitar easy and fun.
