Common Haywire wiring modifications
Treble bleed circuit
A “treble bleed” circuit is one of Haywire’s most common wiring and guitar re-wiring upgrades. This involves adding a resistor-capacitor network to the volume pot, which prevents the loss of high-end frequencies as you turn the volume knob down. This modification ensures your tone remains bright and clear at any volume level, eliminating the “muddy” tone that can occur with standard wiring.

Bridge tone control addition
For Stratocaster-style guitars, Haywire adds a modification that enables the second tone control to function for the bridge pickup. In a stock Strat, the second tone control is typically wired for the middle pickup, with the bridge pickup having no tone control. This mod gives the player more tonal flexibility.

Custom switching options
- Coil-tap or coil-split switches: These are used for humbucker pickups and allow them to be switched to single-coil mode for a more vintage, brighter sound.
- 4-way switching: A popular mod for Telecaster-style guitars, this adds a fourth switch position that puts both the neck and bridge pickups in series. This provides a thicker, higher-output tone similar to a humbucker.
- Multi-mode and 7-Sound switching: Haywire can install switches to create “humbucker-like” tones in standard single-coil configurations, such as wiring the pickups in series in certain switch positions. 7-sound switching can add any and all combinations of pickups desired.
